one thing that annoys me at times at public libraries, not just newport, is when customers come in with their meal or snack all ready to enjoy as they browse the computer. They literally have their computer time pre-planned to go along with a full-course meal or snack. I've seen EVERYTHING! This lady, who is probably a perfectly nice person otherwise, had a bag of potato chips to enjoy as she browsed. It's not just the periodic crinkling noise of the chips, or the chewing noise, or knowing that fingers that are going into her mouth are then going on to the keyboard, and vice-versa, but also it creates what I call a "ghetto" atmosphere, especially when people come in with big bags, sometimes even luggage, lots of shopping bags, various items for personal hygiene, and the list goes on. Just one of my personal peeves, but doesn't seem to bother anybody else, or at least they won't say so.
